Willie Nelson is a true icon of Country music and his name is inextricably linked with the evolution of the genre. A musician since childhood, he began performing and writing professionally in the Sixties, when he began penning some hit singles for artists of the calibre of Ray Price (“Night Life”) and Patsy Cline (“Crazy”). Always in search of a connection between the multiple influences of Country, he was more prone to deliver a sort of rough sound deriving from honky tonk, blues and folk, which eventually led him to join Waylon Jennings in a battle against the over-produced Nashville sound. This collection shows this transition by featuring both early successes and later hits from his 70s “outlaw” period.
